When I was a child (a life ago…) I had a little suitcase that I used for my summer holidays. I remember that the night before leaving I went to bed with the suitcase and I tried to sleep keeping it between my arms! For all night I dreamed onethousand adventure I could have in the coming days, I was not able to sleep for the excitation and I was waiting morning with trepidation… After many years I have found the suitcase in a garage of my dear mum. It was in bad conditions, at the same time my wife needed of a magazine/books holder and so…
MATERIALS
- An old suitcase
- Vinylic glue
- Decorated paper
- Paintbrush
- Shellac for wood
PROCESS
I washed with tepid water and mild soap the external part of the suitcase. Then I removed all the interior lining and I reinforced some points broken or damaged as the hinges. After that I covered the interior of the suitcase with a new decorated paper. I have glued the paper using a paintbrush and abundant vinylic glue diluted with water. Once glue is dried, I gave a couple of shellac for wood outside and inside the suitcase…And my old little "suitcase of dreams" came back to life!
Here are some photos of the process.
Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of repairs and the application of the new decorated paper…
